After all, our primary mission is to serve our customers, and there's no better way to do that than by providing safe products and reliable services. The radial tire and the PAX System™ are just two of our technological breakthroughs that have made considerable contributions to safety. But many of our safety innovations go beyond tires. Here are just a few:
- Research Partnerships: Today, MICHELIN® has a number of major research projects under way in partnership with other firms. In one project, we have teamed up with the Robert Bosch Corporation to research and develop ways to reduce braking distances.

Optimized Contact Patch™: In the field of suspension systems, MICHELIN® has invented the Optimized Contact Patch™
(OCP), an axle system that opti mizes the tire's contact patch and improves road holding when cornering.
- AntiSplash: MICHELIN® has invented the "antisplash" system, a patented deflector that channels water projections created by trucks on wet roads, to reduce splash height by 75%. This system reduces the accident risk for motorists foll owing or passing trucks while also providi ng truck drivers with greater rearview visibility.
- Global Road Safety Partnership: As partners in the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), an international associati on comprised of institutions, governmental bodies, development aid organizations and large businesses, we aim to promote road safety in devel opi ng countries.
